Cherry Crisp Ice Cream

There’s only one day left in Ice Cream Month!  I have certainly been doing my part in celebrating this most delicious of months, both in making ice cream and in eating it.  But mostly in eating it.

I have a slight cherry addiction during the summer.  I will be very sad when cherry season is over for another year.  I know that you can freeze or can them, but it is just not quite the same.  Anyway, I discovered this ice cream last year, and had to wait until a couple weeks ago to make it again.  Seems like a lot of work, but it’s worth it.  Make vanilla ice cream, plunk 1/3 of it in a container, with a roasted cherry layer and a crisp oatmeal layer. Repeat a couple times and freeze for a while.  Then when you scoop it out, you get a oatmeal roasted cherry swirl in the ice cream.  Soooo gooood.
