Air Travel

Our flight to Hawaii departed in the early afternoon from Calgary Airport which is a five hour drive, on good roads.  Since it is February, we decided to leave a day early, and stay with friends in Calgary.  Alas, the weather wreaked havoc with those plans too, and I ended up leaving on Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday, and staying in a hotel halfway to Calgary, where Rachel met me on Sunday morning.  Then we zipped off to Calgary, laughing at the fact that we had fooled the blizzard which was occurring at home.  We got to visit the giant mall, found spring-timeish jackets which we both needed for the trip, and spent the evening and night with Rachel’s friends.

Our flights were uneventful, but the one from Vancouver to Hawaii is long.  And boring.  Especially when you are on a new plane and they haven’t put the TVs into the seats yet.  One can only read for so long before one gets antsy.  That’s why it was a good thing that we got to watch the sun set (kind of, we were on the wrong side of the plane) for a long time since we were going southwest.  Oh, and since we were at the front of the plane we passed the time watching the ENDLESS parade of people up to the front bathroom.  And yet, everytime we turned around to see if the back bathrooms were having the same traffic jam issues, the occupied light wasn’t even lit on those bathrooms.  So weird.  Just go the back bathrooms, people.  (Also, do people not use the bathroom in the airport?  It seems quite a bit roomier than those on the plane. The parade seriously started as soon as the seatbelt sign went off and didn’t seem to really stop for 5 hours.)

About Kathy

I'm a twenty-something who loves animals, farming, photography and cooking/baking. Luckily enough, photography works really well with the other three subjects, so I carry my camera around practically everywhere. Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful.
