A long time ago, we had a family of owls in the trees in the pasture.  We went to see the babies a couple of times when the mom wasn’t around.  They didn’t really like to be disturbed and we didn’t want the mom to be able to tell we were there and abandon them, so we didn’t get too close.  Plus they got all poofy and hissed at us, and we did not want to be dive bombed by owls.

Those were great horned owls, but now in the winter we see the snowy owls more.  They really love to sit on top of the power poles and survey the landscape.  It’s kind of strange, they sit there and cars zoom by on the road, and it doesn’t seem to bother them, but I stopped on the road today to take his picture and he only held still for a few seconds before he flew away.

About Kathy

I'm a twenty-something who loves animals, farming, photography and cooking/baking. Luckily enough, photography works really well with the other three subjects, so I carry my camera around practically everywhere. Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful.
