Tonight was our Open House/Parent’s night for AWANA at church, which is our kids club. You would think that the children would be less hyper with their parents around, but somehow they seem to have more energy. It likely doesn’t help that after the evening is done, we feed them snacks and juice and let them tear around the gym. I am sure they are very easy to calm down at home for bedtime.
The leaders of the various classes are all asked to bring a plate of goodies each year, which usually means there is a wide variety of chocolatey related snacks. Mine this year was no different. Even though I have a long list of cupcake flavours I still want to try, I decided to do something from a different list this time: my bar cookies list. My grandma used to make something that tasted much like this except with a date filling instead of chocolate. My personal opinion is that chocolate is always better. I made this just after lunch time and tried to cut them three and a half hours later, but the chocolate still wasn’t set. So I stuck them in the freezer for forty minutes and that solved the oozing chocolate problem. I should probably put them back in the freezer so the leftovers are harder to get to.
