I would hate to be a person who suffers from hay fever, or dust allergies of any sort.  Especially around this time of year.  I imagine this year would be quite hard, since there has been hardly any wind, and the dust just hangs around in the air, instead of blowing away.  Instead of it moving on, you just keep on breathing it and I imagine you spend all summer with stuffed up sinuses, or whatever the particular allergy symptom is.

Aside from allergies, harvest dust in particular makes you itchy.  Barley and canary seed dust is the worst, but wheat dust is no picnic either.  When it is this hot outside, too, the dust seems to just stick to you, and no amount of brushing can get it off.  When unloading the truck, it is very important to stand on whatever side the wind is coming from so that you do not end up covered in the dust.  Some days, when the truck is pointed just right, in a place where the wind swirls around, it is impossible.  Today, though, it was easy, and with the sun hitting it just right (and the camera relatively far away to protect it), it was even pretty.

About Kathy

I'm a twenty-something who loves animals, farming, photography and cooking/baking. Luckily enough, photography works really well with the other three subjects, so I carry my camera around practically everywhere. Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful.
