It was hot outside today. Hot, hot, hot. And humid. With not very much wind. This does not make sitting in the truck very much fun, because no matter which way you turn the truck, there is no breeze coming through the window. Miraculously the breeze appears when you are driving beside the combine as it unloads, because all the dust somehow blows in the windows. And then when you are unloading the truck at the auger, the breeze is always from the wrong way there, too, and blows all the dust into your face, no matter where you stand. Then you end up very itchy.
We finished up the canola field on Saturday, so today we moved on to the wheat field. I took a sample this morning and it was much drier than we anticipated, so off we went. It is actually yielding quite well, which is happy, since it is my field, and the rust that occurred in July doesn’t seem to have damaged the kernels too much. The benefit of having no wind is that when you are trying to take pictures of the wheat, it isn’t moving around constantly. Makes it much easier.
