Minnesota’s license plate declares that it is the state of 10 000 lakes. And, from driving through it and looking at the map, it certainly seems to be true. There are little lakes all over the place. Some appeared to be no more than ponds, but were classified as lakes anyway. Maybe they were bigger than they seemed.
There was a lake in the town we were in. It was a pretty good sized lake. Friday was mostly taken up with meetings and such, but we went for a walk just before supper to stretch our legs and go see the lake. It was perfectly calm, and had a pretty large walking dock, and then a couple of little ones that we could see. Apparently, they had sprayed the lake for something, like mosquitoes or algae, and you couldn’t actually go in the water. But, someone informed us, if you caught the fish from the lake, you could safely eat them. We were not willing to try that.
