Last week when we drove up to camp, we passed quite a few canola fields in full bloom.  They look really pretty when they are all yellow, but smell kind of bad.  At that point, our canola field was still just barely green.  The plants were pretty big, but all of last years wheat stubble was still towering over it, and that was really all you could see until you drove onto the road.

Well, due to all the nice sunshine we have had the last few days, on Friday (3 days after we went to camp) it started sending up its shoots so that it could bloom.  Hooray!  I went to see the progress it had made at blooming, and it is just starting to turn yellow.  You can’t see the wheat stubble anymore, just green, patches of yellow, and a storm in the background that just missed us.

About Kathy

I'm a twenty-something who loves animals, farming, photography and cooking/baking. Luckily enough, photography works really well with the other three subjects, so I carry my camera around practically everywhere. Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful.
