In my professional, although somewhat biased, opinion, Holsteins are quite likely the best breed of cow.  Not to say that they don’t have their problems.  They are stubborn, give up when they are sick, can be jumpy, and usually run the other way when you want them to go somewhere.  However, they are also humorous, friendly, curious beasts who have the cutest calves anywhere.  Clearly the good outweighs the bad here.

Today, the sun was shining for the third day in a row.  This makes the cows very happy, because their corral is starting to dry up and, even better, they can be out in the pasture without fear of being rained on.  There is almost nothing as nice as the sight of black and white cows against green grass and a blue sky.

About Kathy

I'm a twenty-something who loves animals, farming, photography and cooking/baking. Luckily enough, photography works really well with the other three subjects, so I carry my camera around practically everywhere. Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful.
