On Thursday, our first actual day in Florida, we took our lovely rental car to Cocoa Beach. It took a little over an hour to get there, partly due to the fact that we took the wrong entrance onto the right road and ended up going the opposite direction until we found a place to get off the freeway and get back on going the other direction. Happily we had a couple of maps and were able to navigate our way back onto the right road going the right direction.
It turns out that it wasn’t even that safe to swim in the Atlantic, due to a swell that had brought in jellyfish. There were a lot of jellyfish. Some dead on the sand, having washed up with the waves and lots just in the ocean. But we still went wading, and the other three went walking along the beach whilst I had a nap. And got a sunburn. Once we were tired of sitting in the sun, we went to the Kennedy Space Centre for a little while. That was very cool, although it likely would have been better to be there for more than just 90 minutes.
