Every year our youth group does a ditch pick. For 12 miles. It is done partly as a fundraiser and partly as a community service. We do the same stretch of road every year. They split into groups, this year it was only 4 groups since it turned out to be a track and field weekend for some of the kids, each take a half mile at a time, and walk up one side and down the other, so really for every half mile we walk a mile. Since there were fewer groups this year I am sure we all did about 5 or 6 half mile sections, which means we actually walked 5-6 miles instead of 2.5 to 3 miles. So now I have a sunburned and windburned face, since it is always really windy whenever we do this, and I am pretty sure I am getting a blister on my foot from walking on the slanted ditch all day. But it was a good day.
I did notice as we walked, that the grass sure got green really fast this year. And it is quite tall already. When I got home, I noticed that, first of all, my lawn really needs mowing, and second, that my lilac bushes are starting to grow leaves. This makes me quite excited because I love lilacs.
