Well, we have started seeding. And it is muddy everywhere, and really muddy in some places. Happily we have a track tractor which does not get stuck, like, ever. It just zooms over top since the weight is all spread out instead of concentrated on the tires. Hooray for tracks! Our old 4894 would definitely have been stuck by now. Hopefully it will continue to be sunny and somewhat breezy to dry it up even more.
Our sprayer truck, which is just a F-250 with a sprayer tank and booms mounted on the back, has not been so lucky. With all that water weight in the back it has sunk like a stone twice in the last 24 hours. Our one tractor, which has a cab making it more comfortable to drive out to the field, doesn’t have front wheel assist and manages to get just as stuck, or more than, the truck. So we end up bringing the front end loader with front wheel assist out anyway since it can pull them out with that extra help from the front wheels. Now we can start keeping count of how many times we get stuck in the mud this year.
