On Sunday and Monday the snow really started to melt.  It didn’t go down to zero overnight either, so it kept melting.  When we went to town on Monday, the were rivers in all the ditches and the one very large culvert in one place was nearly all the way full of water.  This could be a good thing, because it means that spring was here.  (I say was because it snowed yesterday and today again.)  In town, the already high creek started to get even higher, since all the water around here runs into that creek at some point.   They started sandbagging around low lying houses on Monday, I think.

On Tuesday, the warm weather kept up and by Wednesday the water was really high in town.  And so was the dam farther upstream, which means that they had to let water out of the dam down into the creek, which causes the creek to crest even higher.  In other parts of the province, main roadways are under water.  It really is a mess.  Today when we went to town, the water had dropped down some, but not a lot.  And this wet snow is not helping.  For information’s sake, the water generally flows 10 feet below that bridge, and is about as wide as that bridge.

About Kathy

I'm a twenty-something who loves animals, farming, photography and cooking/baking. Luckily enough, photography works really well with the other three subjects, so I carry my camera around practically everywhere. Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful.
