Ice carving

Well, the creek in town is flooding.  And in other places, the water is running over the roads so much that people have to detour way out of their way.  Such is the case in spring when we have a winter with lots of snow.  Especially since we already had so much rain last year.  Everything is still full of water, like the dams and creeks and low spots.  The ground is still kind of frozen, so the water has no place to go.  Except to run.

The water has started running in the back of our yard now.  There is still quite a bit of snow, though it looks like it has started to melt.  The water must still move a little bit under the snow, because it carves out the icy crust on the top of the snow into cool patterns that really looks like the ice is full of cracks, but it is still smooth on top if you run your hand over it.  If you pick it up it crumbles into pieces.  It is certainly cool to look at.

About Kathy

I'm a twenty-something who loves animals, farming, photography and cooking/baking. Luckily enough, photography works really well with the other three subjects, so I carry my camera around practically everywhere. Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful.
