Lots of people around here are concerned about the runoff this spring.  So far it hasn’t been a problem, although the melting just started and there is still lots of snow left.  The ground is still quite saturated from last summer’s excessive amounts of rain, so not too much of the melting snow can sink into the dirt.  So far, it’s been just above freezing during the day, and below at night, which freezes it up so it doesn’t melt too fast.  Maybe this will continue.

There is a creek that runs through town, and last year it flooded because of all the rain.  Actually the rain flooded the dam that is farther upstream, and so this year they opened up the dam the other day to let a bunch of water out to prepare for the runoff.  The crest hit town yesterday, but today when I went to see, it was still quite high and fast.

About Kathy

I'm a twenty-something who loves animals, farming, photography and cooking/baking. Luckily enough, photography works really well with the other three subjects, so I carry my camera around practically everywhere. Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful.
