I like old buildings.  They all have different stories about their lives and what they were used for.  Some buildings start out as one thing and end up transformed into something completely different, sometimes several times.  Some buildings are only used for one thing and then once that purpose has been accomplished, they stand empty until someone tears them down, or they crumble.

There are quite a few abandoned yards around here, leftovers from when everyone could survive from being a small farmer.  That time has passed, but many of the buildings are still standing.  The farm where I work has one of these yards right near it. I had only ever seen it from the road, but today I walked to it, filling up my shoes with snow in the process.  Aside from a few missing shingles, and some broken windows, the barn is still in really good shape, and the cows get water there in the winter, so it is still kind of used.

About Kathy

I'm a twenty-something who loves animals, farming, photography and cooking/baking. Luckily enough, photography works really well with the other three subjects, so I carry my camera around practically everywhere. Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful.
