Since harvest was late this year, and really rain filled, some of our bales stayed out in the field for the winter. Partly because some weren’t sold yet and partly because the people who bought the rest couldn’t get to them because of the mud, then the snow. Some of them are stacked in neat rows at least, but some are scattered hither and yon and will have to be cleaned up before we can seed. If the snow ever goes away, that is.
To get this particular picture I had to walk across the field for a while, trying not to fall through the snow and fill my boots with said snow, because I still had to walk home. Then I walked up a snowbank onto the bales. Yes, I am standing on top of 6 foot bales. Yes, they are completely under snow. The snow isn’t that deep over the whole field, but the wind covered most of this particular stack. Pretty sure it’ll take until June until we can get these bales off the field.
