My grand plan this morning was to wake up and take a picture of the first sunrise of 2011. However, staying up until 2am made me really not want to wake up 6 hours later to take pictures. So I slept in instead and took pictures later in the afternoon instead. Win-win.
Anyway, up until a week or so ago, we had been having quite a bit of really heavy, dense fog. Its only good feature is that it makes trees and such look really pretty. There’s an old wives tale that says that 90 days after fog, the area will get precipitation. I’ve tried to keep track and count days, but I always forget, and so when we do get rain (or snow) I can’t remember if it was actually foggy 90 days earlier. Hopefully this superstition is not true, because we REALLY don’t need anymore rain around here. There was still enough frost left on my netting over my saskatoon bushes to make some neat pictures, although even when I was taking them, the breeze was blowing the frost off.
