I needed to bring snack for the Junior Youth on Thursday. The problem with bringing a snack is that I always have a whole list of flavours and treats in my head. I decided on cupcakes, because I love them, and I opened my Martha Stewart cupcake book to narrow down my choices. Lo and behold, this recipe for chocolate chip cupcakes was the very first recipe in the book. It was meant to be, I decided. I have made chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes before (which were awesome, by the way), but never a plain chocolate chip cake, with a (delicious and amazing) simple dark chocolate frosting. It would be my favourite icing for taste and being simple to make, I think, but it does need more time to cool down and set for piping than my other favourite chocolate buttercream. Which can be a problem if you are in kind of a hurry. In case you, too, feel the need to have these cupcakes, the cake recipe is here (clicky) and the frosting is here (clicky)
(PS: in my book, the frosting recipe has amounts of ingredients that are different than the website. I have no idea if it’ll make a difference in the end or not.)

Those look sooo good!
